Jiquan Chen, Ph.D.
Director & Professor

Research Interests: My scientific interests have been evolving since 1979, from prairie ecology and forest dynamics to 3-D canopy structure, forest fragmentation, edge effects, riparian zone, and micrometeorology.  My current research focus lies in the coupled effects of global climate change and human activities on terrestrial ecosystems.  In addition to my addictions to the new sensors and technology (e.g., GIS and RS), I love carbon and water cycle as much as biking and martial art practices. Kristen Woodling
Undergraduate Research Assistant
I am a sophomore at the University of Toledo. Currently, I am working on a BS in Environmental Science and plan to obtain my masters in Environmental Science as well.  My focus is in biology and I would like to gain as much hands on experience as I can an undergraduate student. I also enjoy camping, playing sports, being outside and spending time with my family and friends.  More...

Jianye Xu
Ph.D. Student

My research focuses on carbon cycling and long-term carbon balance in the Missouri Ozark Forest ecosystem. I investigate interannual soil efflux as part of my study in the Missouri Ozark Forest Ecosystem Project (MOFEP). I also like all kinds of sports including soccer, basketball and playing chess. Shiqiang Wan, Ph.D.
Visiting Professor

My research focuses on responses and feedbacks of terrestrial ecosystems to global climate change. We are conducing field manipulative experiments in Inner Mongolia grasslands involving multiple drivers (elevated CO2, climate warming, changing precipitation, N deposition, land use and fire).
