A microclimatic station was installed in Aug. 2003 to measure major climatic variables, including air temperature (Ta, oC), relative humidity (h, %), incoming short wave radiation (Rt, W m-2), and photosynthetically-active radiation (PAR, μmol.m-2.s-1) at 2 m above the ground, soil temperatures at 5, 15, and 25 cm in the soil (Ts5, Ts15, and Ts25, oC), soil moisture at 10 cm (M, bar), wind speed (u, m.s-1) and direction (D, o), and precipitation (P, mm). A CSI 21X datalogger is programmed to scan all sensor every 5-second and calculate/store the 30-min means. A lap top computer is used to download data no more than 20 days. The station is charged by a deep cycle marine battery that needs to be recharged every 6 month.
