In a world climate where dependence upon fossil fuel has lead to dangerous foreign policy and the dangers of global warming, it behooves the responsible individual to find viable alternatives to the current infrastructure and choices before us. Some choose, as my friend Abraham Noe-Hays did, to alter their habits in very interesting ways-- Abe's '89 diesel Jetta runs on deep-fat frier grease waste, thus failing to introduce fossil carbon to the carbon cycle. I chose to purchase the 2001 Toyota Hybrid electric/gas vehicle, the Prius, which on the whole has treated me very well. Excited about these possibilities, Andrew Stepnick did the same as Abe with his VW Westfalia van.
