LAKAPIS is a sensor designed specifically for field deployment for scaling chlorophyll, foliar nitrogen, and productivity estimations from the leaf, to the canopy, to the landscape scale. The instrument is paired with the LICOR 6400 portable photosynthesis analyser and lab estimations of foliar nitrogen and chlorophyll. LAKAPIS was assembled this summer, has seen it's first field trials, Summer 2003, and is currently being calibrated for said estimations for the next field season.

Two successful LAKAPIS flights took place this summer, both lifted by balloons (kite lift is more complicated and will be attempted again next field season). Representative shots (translated, the only decent looking ones) can be viewed. Corrections for LAKAPIS blurring are in the works, including a new electronic control system.
