Landscape ecology has been growing dramatically in the past decade or so. In addition to existing landscape ecology books, this book will dedicate to the subject of how landscape ecology research can contribute to addressing the challenges in contemporary forest management and land-based multi-purpose management in this fast-changing environment, with diverse contributions from active researchers of all continents.

The goal of this book is to provide not only a summary of conceptual understanding of landscape ecology as related to forest management but also a whole set of specific challenges, issues, and methods on how to deal with them, and thus to be a stimulating addition to the international literature on landscape ecology and land resource management at large.

The book will be divided into three main sections that focus on: (1) concepts, challenges, and linkages; (2) approaches, methods, and tools; (3) applications, case studies, and solutions. Each section will contain contribution leading chapter by forming a group at the IUFRO Landscape Ecology 2008 Conference (note, a lead author will be identified).

The proposed book should be appropriate for graduate students, upper-level undergraduate students, researchers interested in ecology across multiple scales, and practitioners of natural resource management.
